A Cold Lock-In

Hail and gales in Nantwich inspired us to theme the first hour of the show to all things cold.

The Meeting Of The Peters

No... it's not Zaphod Beeblebrox, it is the long awaited meeting of the two Peters. Maybe Peter does not look too impressed with his term time substitute Definitely Peter. I can't decide which Peter is cuter (mainly because I can't tell them apart).

In more photo news, check out the latest additions in our 'Gallery' section of the blog. I have uploaded a couple of pics of 7 Day Weekend, who joined us last Saturday.

7 Day Weekend!

This Saturday we are joined by 7 Day Weekend - a Pop-Punk 5 piece from Warrington. Formed mid 2010, members Calan Nickle (Vocals), Clayton Leah (Rhythm Guitar), Tom Hancox (Lead Guitar), Dan Hancox (Bass) and John Handy (Drums) started off aiming as high as possible... And the ball hasn't stopped rolling, as they've gone from Calan's old garage to Manchester Academy 3 in just over a year. They've played along side huge talents such as Pacific, Destine, The Back Up Plan, Better Left Alone, Calais, Above The Underground, Leopards, Tall Trees and That Sunday Feeling and Attack! Attack!

Get your questions in for the band to jen.vc@thisisthecat.com or leave them as a comment below. Or when we are on air email the studio on studio@thisisthecat.com or text 01270 266877.
Tune in at 11pm Saturday. www.thisisthecat.com

Canned Heat Shenanigans

A few weeks back Maybe Peter had the kind thought of setting up our show for us. As he is so very familiar with the Lock-In he selected the music as follows...

(If you're confused...that's two hours of nothing but Canned Heat!)

So...last night, Maybe Peter contacted the show to let us know that because we play Canned Heat so often we actually come top of the list if you Google Canned Heat!

(turned out he was kidding)

The Twelve Days Of Christmas

On last night's show, as well as all the fantastic music, Andy and Jen re-wrote (and sang - sorry) the song "The Twelve days Of Christmas" but with a Late Night Lock-In twist... everything had to be something you could get from a late night petrol station!

Here's what we came up with....

Twelve brickettes burning
Eleven Flowers a drooping
Ten Teddies a hugging
Nine Leather chamois a dripping
Eight Petrol cans a leaking
Seven Tow ropes a fraying
Six Stale sandwiches a stinking
FIVE MAGIC TREES
Four Turtle wax
Three Tax disc holders
Two Bottles of de-icer
And a packet of out of date tea

Christmas Movies

On last Saturday's Lock-In Andy and Jen talked about those special films that Christmas doesn't feel Christmassy enough without. Thanks to all the listeners who got in touch. With your help, Jen's top 3 turned into a top ten!!

Here is the list Jen finally settled on (in reverse order)....

10. Die Hard (any)
9. Mary Poppins
8. Wizard Of Oz
7. White Christmas
6. Miracle on 34th Street (either version)
5. Nightmare Before Christmas
4. Sound Of Music
3. Muppet Christmas Carol
2. Polar Express
and...
1. It's A Wonderful Life

Definitely Peter

We missed our very own "Maybe" Peter now that he's toddled off to university, that Andy brought in a replacement. It took Jen a fair while to work out this wasn't actually Peter the likeness was so uncanny.

No "Maybe" about this one.. this is "Definitely Peter"

Lock-In 19th November

Wow the studio was shaking on Saturday with the rhythm of djembes rattling Cat Towers all thanks to the amazing Djembe Dave. Little Peter was new to djembe playing, but by the end Dave Jen and Peter were playing a three part rhythm!! Dave is currently based on a narrowboat in Chester. If you are interested in lessons call Dave on 07943774440. The show is available on listen again on The Cat website until Saturday 27th November (select Saturday at 11pm)

Lock-In 12th November

Last night we payed tribute to all our fallen, plus had a great mix of classic rock (and that Animal Hospital Theme tune ....again, sigh). It was our little Maybe Peter's last lock-in for a while as he will be doing his show from Wolverhampton, where he is based at university (yes we didn't know he was that clever either). Tune in next week to find out if we have a replacement for our Maybe Peter!

Fun Faces

Last night's Lock-In saw some fun and games with Jen's camera. Peter was...well, Peter, Andy was being camera shy, as usual, and Jen was being daft. Incidentally the middle picture of Jen is her doing her Paul McCartney impersonation.

Lock-In 29th October

Kev did a great job defending me from all the ghosties that hang around Frederick House last night. Thanks Kev! Though I have had to book some counselling sessions due to having been asked to play a track featuring "the eyebrowed one" (Paul McCartney to all non regular listeners).
My trip to Boxjam III earlier in the day inspired me to take a retrospective peek over the work of some of the past guests on TLNLI. We really have had some fantastic (!) guests. Still plenty to erm... retrospect about another week.

Lock-In October 29th '11

This Saturday, Andy is away and Peter will be broadcasting his anime show which preceeds TLNLI all the way from London, so won't be able to be on the show. Jen has roped in a replacement co-host for the evening, however, in the form of Kev 'Legs' Walker!

Lock-In, 22nd October '11

On last night's show, Andy, Peter and I were joined by occasional Lock-In victim Andrew Faraday of Manchester's All FM. There were a few gremlins in the radio-maker-a-tron. They looked like this. . . . .

If you see one of these nasty critters. . . . .do not make the mistake we did and feed it after midnight! But the good news is, all the gremlins have now been chased away.

Congratulations to our competition winner Thomas Bennett. Thomas wins those two tickets to see Ash Before Oak at Manchester Academy, which will be in the post first thing in the morning.
